Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant overview
The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is a mega project bringing a lot of power to Bangladesh. This mega project is located in Rooppur, part of Ishwardi in Pabna District, near the Padma River. This project will create 15% of the country's electricity. With 12,500 workers, including 2,500 experts from Russia, this powerful plant is scheduled to be completed in 2024. Russia's Rosatom is leading the way.
However, Bangladesh had the idea of a nuclear power plant since 1961. It took a long time, but in 2015, Russia's Rosatom agreed to help, and they signed a big contract for $12.65 billion. This was a major step toward Bangladesh's goal of collaborating with other nations and obtaining more electricity power. The Rooppur project is an enormous success story for a more powerful and prosperous Bangladesh.
